Reijo Mäki

Reijo Juhani Mäki (born October 12, 1958 in Siikainen, Satakunta) is a Finnish writer of crime fiction.[1] Eight of his novels have been made into films, from which 4 have been played in cinemas in Finland. 4 films are yet to be released, last one in 2012.

Mäki published his first novel Enkelipölyä in 1985. His most well-known character, private detective Jussi Vares, was first introduced in the following year. His novels take place in the city of Turku.

Finnish director Aleksi Mäkelä's film Vares – yksityisetsivä was released in 2004. The film was based on Mäki's novel Keltainen leski. Another film about Jussi Vares was released in 2007.

Mäki is one of the most influential modern Finnish authors. His most current novel Valkovenäläinen was released in 2009.
